What’s included?
Our motor vehicle insurance has coverage for loss or damage to your vehicle. This means that if your vehicle is damaged, stolen or burnt anywhere in Australia, eric can repair, reinstate or replace your vehicle. The key benefits for this include:
- repair, reinstate or replace your vehicle;
- pay you the cost of repairing your vehicle; or
- indemnify you up to the Amount Covered as shown on the Policy Schedule.
Option to pay your policy in monthly instalments similar to a subscription. Pay by the month (PBTM) allows you the freedom to cancel your policy at any time.

If within 24 months of first registration, your vehicle becomes a Total Loss, eric may choose to replace it with a new vehicle of the same make, model and series, subject to availability, or pay up to the Amount Covered.
If your vehicle is accidentally damaged, eric will pay up to a maximum amount for emergency repairs so your vehicle can be driven on to the intended destination or to your place of residence or employment.
We will pay for funeral expenses incurred following the death of the driver of your Vehicle (as certified by a licensed medical practitioner) as a direct result of injuries caused in an accident while driving the Vehicle.
We’ll pay up to $500 for loss or damage to personal property whilst contained in the vehicle belonging to you or your direct family.
eric Comprehensive Car Insurance also offers Legal Liability Cover. If the driver of your vehicle causes accidental damage to someone else’s property as a result of the use of your vehicle and is at fault, Comprehensive Cover includes up to $20 million Legal Liability cover.
eric will pay for emergency travel and/or overnight accommodation in the event of your vehicle not being restored to a roadworthy and safe condition by Essential Repairs following an accident, theft or damage, over 100km from your home.
If your vehicle is stolen, eric will reimburse the cost of hiring a similar type of vehicle up to the maximum policy limit, until your vehicle has been found and repaired or eric have replaced or indemnified you to the extent of the policy coverage.
If your vehicle is damaged as a result of an event covered by this insurance, we will pay the reasonable cost depending upon the circumstances of your claim
We’ll pay up to $1,000 if your trailer or caravan is accidentally damaged and/or stolen while it is attached to your vehicle.
We will transfer this insurance if you sell the vehicle and replace it with another vehicle, provided:
- Your policy is for Car Insurance only. If you have another type of policy such as Tyre and Wheel, it will need to be cancelled instead;
- The new vehicle meets our underwriting criteria and target market determination;
- You advise us of the new vehicle details within 14 days of its purchase;
- You pay to us any additional Premium as advised by us; and
- The vehicle does not have any existing damage including but not limited to accident, rust, or hail.

We will pay for loss of or damage to your Vehicle while being transported during the Period of Insurance between any places in Australia.

Yes, a driver can be added to the policy. In fact, all regular drivers of the vehicle should be listed on the policy. We will need to collect details such as the driver’s name, date of birth, drivers licence number, year of first licence and their driving history including any at-fault accidents or traffic convictions in the last 5 years. This may impact the premium payable on the policy.
Yes, learner drivers are able to drive the vehicle as long as they are supervised by one of the nominated drivers listed on the policy and they comply with any applicable State laws. Normal age and driving history excesses will apply. See your policy for details.
Yes, the vehicle listed on the policy can be changed provided:
- Your policy is for Car Insurance only. If you have another type of policy such as Tyre and Wheel, it will need to be cancelled instead;
- The new vehicle meets our underwriting criteria and target market determination;

You can lodge a motor vehicle claim in one of three ways:
1. Call us on 1800 999 977 24 hours / 7 days a week to lodge your claim over the phone, or
2. You can lodge your claim online, or
3. Download a claim form, complete it and email it to claims@ericinsurance.com.au, or post it to PO Box 9106 Scoresby VIC 3179.

Ensure that you provide a detailed incident description, including details of any other party involved. We will also require a copy of the front and back of your driver’s licence as well as the licence of anyone driving the car or responsible for the car at the time of the accident. We may also request additional information and documentation to assist with the processing of your claim.
Take all reasonable steps to prevent or minimise further loss, damage or liability. Provide us with all additional information and help which we may reasonably require to process your claim, for example obtaining your driving or criminal history, if applicable, when requested. Assist us to recover, in your name, any amount we have paid on your claim, from the person who caused you to suffer the loss or damage. Provide us with an opportunity to inspect any loss or damage before you have repairs carried out. Assist with any investigation of the circumstances of your claim.
If you have been involved in an accident and have received a demand for payment from the other person (or their insurer), contact us as soon as possible to lodge a claim.
If you’ve already lodged a claim, send us any demand for payment that you have received via email claims@ericinsurance.com.au or post to PO Box 9106 Scoresby VIC 3179.
Do not admit, deny or negotiate any claim with any person without eric’s prior consent or approval.
Notify the Police and then us immediately if your motor vehicle is stolen, maliciously or intentionally damaged. If your vehicle has been recovered after a theft, it should not be driven until it has been assessed by us.
If your vehicle is stolen during the Period of Insurance we will pay the reasonable cost of hiring a similar vehicle up to $500. Contact us on 1800 999 977 for further information, or to arrange a hire vehicle. This benefit is for Comprehensive Insurance policyholders only.
We have a network of recommended and preferred repairers from which you can choose to repair your vehicle. We will only pay repairs to a licenced repairer authorised by us. You can choose a repairer outside our network however, we may not authorise the repairs and we will then pay you the reasonable cost of repairs as determined by us, based upon quotations from repairers we choose.
Yes, if you have selected the Windscreen cover option, you are covered for the repair or replacement of one front windscreen per policy period, up to the maximum value specified in your policy document. This benefit is for Comprehensive Insurance policy holders only.
We will pay up to $300 for essential repairs to your vehicle following damage during the Period of Insurance to enable you to reach your destination or place of safety. This benefit is for Comprehensive Insurance policy holders only.
Please use a transactions account for any direct debit payments as we are unable to take payments from a savings account.
