Comprehensive Motorcycle Insurance
Our comprehensive motorbike insurance has coverage for loss or damage to your vehicle. This means that if your motorcycle is damaged, stolen or burnt anywhere in Australia, Eric Insurance will at their option:
- repair your motorcycle, or
- pay you the cost of repairing your motorcycle, or
- pay you up to the Amount Covered.
Legal Liability cover shown below under Third Party Property Damage also included.
Fire, Theft & Third Party Property Damage (FTTPPD)
If your motorcycle is damaged by Fire or as a result of Theft anywhere in Australia, eric will pay the cost to repair the motorcycle.
In the event of a Total Loss eric will pay the Amount Covered (up to a maximum benefit of $5,000) for loss or damage caused by Fire and Theft. Legal Liability cover shown below is also included.
Third Party Property Damage
Up to $20 million for your Legal Liability for accidental damage to someone else’s property as a result of the use of the motorcycle where the rider of the motorcycle is at fault.
Key Additional Benefits with Comprehensive Cover
If within 24 months of the date of first registration, the motorcycle becomes a Total Loss, eric may choose to replace it with a new motorcycle of the same make, model and series, subject to availability, or pay up to the Amount Covered.
Option to pay your policy in monthly instalments similar to a subscription. Pay by the month (PBTM) allows you the freedom to cancel your policy at any time.

If the motorcycle is stolen, eric will reimburse the cost of hiring a similar type of motorcycle until the motorcycle has been found and repaired or eric has replaced or indemnified you to the extent of the policy coverage.
eric will pay for emergency travel and/or overnight accommodation in the event of the motorcycle not being restored to a roadworthy and safe condition by Essential Repairs following an accident, theft or damage, over 100km from your home.
If the motorcycle is damaged as a result of an accident or by theft, we will pay the reasonable cost of its removal to the nearest repairer or place of safety, or the reasonable cost associated with the return of the motorcycle to you after it has been recovered following a theft.
If the motorcycle is accidentally damaged, eric will pay up to a maximum benefit for emergency repairs so the motorcycle can be driven on to the intended destination or to your place of residence or employment.
We will pay if a trailer is accidentally damaged and/or stolen while it is attached to the motorcycle. The contents and fixtures of the trailer are not covered.
If your motorcycle apparel is lost or damaged in a covered event, then subject to the terms and conditions we will either:
- replace the item if it is less than 2 years old, or;
- reimburse you the current market value for items between 2-10 years old.
We will pay for loss of or damage to the vehicle while it is being transported by road, rail, ship or air between any places in Australia, or being loaded or unloaded.
Roadside Assistance benefit if your vehicle breaks down or is immobilised through our partners at AWP Australia PTY LTD.
We will transfer this insurance if you sell the motorcycle and replace it with another motorcycle, provided:
- Your policy is for Motorcycle Insurance only. If you have another type of policy such as Tyre and Wheel, it will need to be cancelled instead;
- The new motorcycle meets our underwriting criteria and target market determination;
- You advise us of the new motorcycle details within 14 days of its purchase;
- You pay to us any additional Premium as advised by us; and
- The motorcycle does not have any existing including but not limited to accident, rush, or hail.

Are you eligible?
- Motorcycle no older than 15 years
- Motorcycle to not have pre-existing damage
- Motorcycle not used for excluded purpose (Courier / Business Pool Vehicles / Hire (including Rideshare) / Rental / Delivery / Emergency vehicle / racing)
- Motorcycle to be registered & roadworthy (recreation registration is acceptable for motorcycles)
- Rider(s) to be licensed (as per the rules in relevant state or territory)
- Rider(s) to have a driving and accident history that is acceptable to our underwriters
Frequently asked
Yes, a rider can be added to the policy. In fact, all regular riders of the motorcycle should be listed on the policy. We will need to collect details such as the rider’s name, date of birth, motorcycle licence number, year of first licence and their driving history including any at-fault accidents or traffic convictions in the last 5 years. This may impact the premium payable on the policy.
Yes, learner riders can ride the motorcycle and/or hold a policy with us, providing that the comply with any applicable State laws. Normal age and driving history excesses will apply. See your policy for details.
Yes, the motorcycle listed on the policy can be changed provided:
- Your policy is for Motorcycle Insurance only. If you have another type of policy such as Tyre and Wheel, it will need to be cancelled instead;
- The new motorcycle meets our underwriting criteria and target market determination;
- You advise us of the new motorcycle details within 14 days of its purchase;
- You pay to us any additional Premium as advised by us; and
- The vehicle does not have any existing damage including but not limited to accident, rust or hail.

Once the transfer is complete, you’ll receive your updated policy documents to verify the change.
The following information is provided to assist you in the event of an incident and some information about how to lodge a claim with eric. Please download the documents and keep them in your glovebox: Accident Claim Form & Accident and Claim Assistance Guide.
If you have been involved in an accident and have received a demand for payment from the other person (or their insurer), contact us as soon as possible to lodge a claim.
If you’ve already lodged a claim, send us any demand for payment that you have received via email claims@ericinsurance.com.au or post to PO Box 9106 Scoresby VIC 3179.
Do not admit, deny or negotiate any claim with any person without eric’s prior consent or approval.
If your vehicle is stolen during the Period of Insurance we will pay the reasonable cost of hiring a similar vehicle up to $500. Contact us on 1800 999 977 for further information, or to arrange a hire vehicle. This benefit is for Comprehensive Insurance policyholders only
We have a network of recommended and preferred repairers from which you can choose to repair your vehicle. We will only pay repairs to a licenced repairer authorised by us. You can choose a repairer outside our network however, we may not authorise the repairs and we will then pay you the reasonable cost of repairs as determined by us, based upon quotations from repairers we choose.
Notify the Police and then us immediately if your motorcycle is stolen, maliciously or intentionally damaged. If your vehicle has been recovered after a theft, it should not be ridden until it has been assessed by us.
We will pay up to $300 for essential repairs to your vehicle following damage during the Period of Insurance to enable you to reach your destination or place of safety. This benefit is for Comprehensive Insurance policy holders only.
Fraudulent insurance claims ultimately cost everybody who takes out insurance. It imposes additional costs on honest policyholders and wastes valuable time and resources.

Yes, we cover motorcycle apparel up to the maximum amounts specified in the policy.
Cover is limited to a total benefit of $3,000 in any one incident with an individual limit of $1,000 for Motorcycle Apparel. Motorcycle Helmet cover has a maximum benefit of $1,000 per claim.

Ensure that you provide a detailed incident description, including details of any other party involved. We will also require a copy of the front and back of your motorcycle licence as well as the licence of anyone riding the motorcycle or responsible for the motorcycle at the time of the accident. We may also request additional information and documentation to assist with the processing of your claim.
Take all reasonable steps to prevent or minimise further loss, damage or liability. Provide us with all additional information and help which we may reasonably require to process your claim, for example obtaining your driving or criminal history, if applicable, when requested. Assist us to recover, in your name, any amount we have paid on your claim, from the person who caused you to suffer the loss or damage. Provide us with an opportunity to inspect any loss or damage before you have repairs carried out. Assist with any investigation of the circumstances of your claim.
