At eric Insurance, we take your privacy seriously and strive to ensure your personal information remains safe and secure.
In July 2022 we were made aware of a minor privacy incident due to an administrative human error. The error resulted in an internal use spreadsheet containing some personal information of a small number of individuals being sent incorrectly to one of our own existing customers.
Please be assured that unlike recent publicised events, our systems were NOT compromised or hacked in any way. To reiterate, the only recipient of this file and information was an existing eric customer who has since reassured us that the information has been deleted without being accessed. We have taken steps to prevent an error of this nature happening in the future.
If you are one of the affected individuals and your information was contained in this file, we have attempted to contact you via email and SMS using the details we have on file. Affected individuals may have had one or more types of personal information shared in this file, as outlined in Table 1. Given the nature of the incident our assessment is that the risk that the information contained in the file may be misused is LOW, however, you should of course remain cautious. We have included measures you can take to protect yourself in the unlikely event your personal information is misused, or in case you notice any suspicious or unusual transactions or activity relating to your personal information.
